July 2016 Stitch Fix Review – 5th and Worst Yet

After my last fix I was conflicted on whether or not to give Stitch Fix another chance.  But with an upcoming family trip, overnight anniversary trip, and birthday, I decided it would be nice to have something new to wear.  Unfortunately, this time was a total dud.  The worst part is that I feel like my stylist didn’t listen to me at all.

I try hard to make sure my stylist has as much information as possible about what I like and want.  After all, it’s in both of our best interests’ if I like items in my box.  I keep my style profile updated with sizing and preferences, including the note to please not send tops or dresses that are strapless or spaghetti straps.  I’m large chested and I don’t find it flattering or comfortable to wear a strapless bra.  I also asked to get some pants, in any color EXCEPT black.  Additionally, I am on Pinterest almost every day adding fashion pins to my Beauty and Fashion board.  I pin clothes from all over the place, but at least half are actual Stitch Fix items, so some of those should be available, right?

I eagerly anticipated my delivery, wondering which of my desired items would be included.  My excitement quickly disappeared when I saw a spaghetti strap dress, and a pair of black pants (not pictured).  Two things I specifically asked NOT to get! WTF?! The ankle strap shoes were not flattering on my short legs.  The Romero blouse was cut loose, again, not flattering.  The only decent thing in the box was the Pixley dress.  I loved the detail of the sheer fabric around the neck.  However, the dress was too long, hitting at that awkward just-at-the-knee spot.  You guessed it- not flattering.  Maybe I’m being harsh, but shouldn’t someone who is a stylist by profession know that ankle straps and mid length dresses don’t look good on people with short legs?  She has my measurements.  But really the most frustrating thing is that I just feel not heard.

In the end, I didn’t want to lose my styling fee so I kept the black pants.  They fit, but I really don’t need another pair.  I haven’t taken the tags off of them so I may attempt to sell them on a buy/sell/trade board or ebay.  They are the Kut from the Kloth Siena pants in black, size 2 if anyone out there is interested.

Does anyone have advice for how/if to move forward with SF?  I gave a poor review at checkout, obviously, but I’m not sure if I trust using them again.  If you haven’t tried SF and would like to, you can use my link: stitchfix.com/referral/5915833 and let me know how it goes!

Hello world!

Like a lot of people these days, I spend a lot of time trolling Pinterest.  Sometimes it’s when I actually need something, such as a new recipe for dinner or an idea for a theme party.  But a lot of it is mindless scrolling looking for inspiration.  There are plenty of Pins that I know right away I’m too lazy, or too unskilled, to pull off.  A lot of times I am inspired to try the idea, with mixed results.  I seem to have just as many fails as successes.  But nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?  Right?
